Drive-in Pallet Rack

Drive in racking storage pallet racks

Drive-in racking systems, also known as drive through racking, are a type of high-level racks and warehouse storage racks that are customized on demand.

Nowadays, many enterprise warehouses use this kind of storage racking.  The height of the FIFO (first-in-first-out) drive-in rack can be designed up to 10 meters, making full use of the height of the warehouse, increasing the storage capacity of goods, and improving the utilization rate of the warehouse by 5 times. The advantage of drive in racking system can be divide into:

  • High density storage system to store pallets, efficient warehouse utilization
  • Good solution for storage of products with a great number of pallets
  • Cold room storage
  • Upright loading capacity up to 21000kg with Beams up to 5000kg
  • Height: 1500-8000mm
  • Wide/Depth: 1000-1500mm
  • Length: 1500-3200mm

The drive-in rack is suitable for the storage of small varieties and large quantities of goods. In the case of the side of the wall, the installation of the back beam, and the back pull, the storage method of the goods is first in, last out, and the depth of the cargo space is ≤6. In the case where the back beam and back pull are not installed in the middle area, the depth of the cargo space is less than or equal to 12.

Introduction of High Density Warehouse Storage Racking

HIGH DENSITY PALLET STORAGE

The storage capacity is almost double than selective warehouse racking systems in the same space

High quality steel

Pickling before powder coating, make the surface more firmly

low investment cost

The drive-in racking system based on cubic volume, because each square metre is being used to store product instead of having space wasted with an aisle.

Specifications of Industrial Pallet Racking

The drive-in rack, also known as drive through rack, is a whole-building continuous rack that uses pallets to automatically store goods. The characteristic of drive-in racking is that it saves the space required for the passage, makes the shelves more dense, and improves the utilization rate of the warehouse space. The goods enter and exit from the same side, which means that the stored products need to comply with FILO (first-in-last-out), so products that require first in first out are not suitable for this racking system.
The drive-in rack has a simple structure and does not require a lot of equipment, so the cost of this type of steel racks is often lower than other racks. Due to the particularity of the structure, the high density drive-in rack is more suitable for storing some products with a large quantity and a small variety, and is often used to store large quantities of products of the same type.

Upright: 70*90*1.8/2.0,70*100*1.8/2.0

Arm: Double arm, single arm

Top bar: 24*36*1.5C Diagonal bar 24*36*1.5C

Palletsize: 800*1200,1000*1200,1000*1000,800*1000 & Customized

Pallet load capacity: 500-2000kg

Pallet in deep: 5-7 pallet Pallet In height 4-6 pallet Material cold rolled Q235 steel

The characteristic of this structure is that the forklift operation channel and the goods storage space can be shared, which greatly improves the utilization rate of warehouse space and site area

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Drive-in Racking System.

  • Advantages of drive-in racking

  • Drive-in racks cancel the lanes between each row of racks, and combine the racks so that the goods on the same layer and in the same column are connected to each other, and the storage capacity is almost double that of Industrial pallet racking in the same space.
  • The storage efficiency is high, the warehouse utilization rate can reach about 80%, and the warehouse space utilization rate can be increased by more than 30%.
  • The investment cost is relatively low, because the effective storage capacity of the warehouse is increased, the investment cost is controlled, and the benefit is significantly improved. Calculated from the global storage cost, the investment cost is generally offset by the increased storage capacity benefit within three years.
  • It is suitable for most handling machinery storage and transportation operations.

The Shortage of Drive Through Racking

The drive through racking also has its own shortcomings. From its structure, it can be seen that the drive through racks almost seems to be a few pieces of steel from the top to the bottom. Although there are various stable accessories among them to support it, its The stability is far inferior to other shelves, so pay attention to controlling the height of the drive through type shelves; in addition, the goods stored in the drive through type shelves follow the principle of first-in-last-out, and the goods in the same working channel cannot be first-in-first-out, only suitable for large Items in batches, small varieties, or job aisles flow together to the same customer’s item storage.

Application Field

Drive-in pallet rack requires fewer aisles, allowing you to store up to 75% more pallets in the same space.  Drive-In Racks allow a lift truck to enter the rack from one side to pick up or pull out pallets. This is done because pallets can slide backward on a continuous rail. Forklifts drive into the rack to access pallets two or more deep. You are limited in the depth of storage for a particular bay by the size of your facility. Drive-In racks are typically subject to more abuse than selective racks due to the way they are utilized, so rack integrity and strength are important factors. It is an ideal rack for cold room storage.

Safe Operation

Drive-in racks cannot be installed with beams in the access roadway, so the three elements of strength, stiffness and stability of the racks must be given enough attention at the beginning of the design. Therefore, the height of the drive-in racks should not be too high and generally controlled at 10 Within meters, within 4 layers. In the form of non-penetration, the back pull and back beam should be added to increase the stability of the overall frame. For solid-density goods such as beverages, metal, etc., the length of the pallet into the fork is less than 1.3 meters. Compared with other forms of high-density racks, drive-in racks have lower construction costs, and physical objects can often be seen in warehouses in industries such as food, tobacco, medicine, and cold storage.

Drive-in Racking Main Parts

As a continuous integrated racking system that is not divided by aisles, the storage efficiency of the drive through racking is high. Its structural characteristics are: columns, diagonal braces, transverse braces, back pulls, top pulls, top beams, spacers, hanging boards, foot protectors, and guide rails. Door type, pallet unitized goods are stored one by one on the cantilever beam in the depth direction.
